CHP believes individuals and families
can, and do, recover from mental illness,
and devotes significant resources to helping
people overcome the challenges of serious
and persistent mental illness.
Consumer Centered
Help
CHP
has many resources for consumers and families
who are working on their recovery. These
resources include wellness tip sheets, consumer
newsletters, and consumer education programs.
CHP also provides training to consumers
and families who are managing or want to
start peer-directed programs such as drop-in
centers, family centers, self help groups
and consumer-run clubhouses. The CHP Business
Development Center offers technical assistance
and learning resources that can help consumers
manage their non-profit organizations more
effectively. CHP currently conducts workshops
in grant writing, community organizing,
strategic planning for non-profits, developing
and sustaining self help groups, board development,
non-profit incorporation and volunteer management.
These programs are free to consumer and
family groups in the CHP service areas.
To learn more about these programs, call
1-800-804-5040, and ask for the Prevention/Consumer
Affairs Department. CHP will also be offering
courses on-line for non-profit managers
in the near future. So stay tuned!
Community Mental

offer a variety of programs for consumers
and families. In addition to traditional
mental health services, they offer prevention
and education programs, self help and consumer
empowerment programs. To learn what is available
